Let's start with the goal. Your first post made it sound like you wanted to get the sound for your TV channels to come out of your surround system. Is that correct? Currently, you watch cable through the TV's tuner. There's no cable box or DVR in the mix.
I'm pretty up to date on stuff, but I don't know exactly what you mean by your "ihome. Can you be specific about what you're talking about, perhaps a web link to a product page so I can be on the same page? Yes my goal is to get sound from my cable tv channels through the surround sound. And you are correct about the tv as well. It is cable ready so my coax connects directly into the back of the tv.
My ihome is an ipod dock. It was bought from Wal-Mart. I would rather not hook it up this way if other options will work. I have an extra dvd player still in the box but am open to any suggestions. I also have a set of 2. There are 2 satellite speakers, right and left, and a subwoofer. On the back of the subwoofer there is 1 audio input and a L and R audio output.
Would this be any help. How do you believe connecting an iPod dock to your surround system will result in letting you hear cable TV channels? Think about it this way. In order for the iPod dock to send the sound from the TV's cable tuner to the surround system, you'd still need to get the sound out of the TV and into the iPod dock. Of course, if you could do that, then you wouldn't need the iPod dock!
Therein lies the problem. The only device you have that can tune in your cable channels, the tuner in the TV, doesn't have any audio outputs. So, we need a different cable TV tuner Your iPod dock doesn't have one of those you can't plug your cable line into it , and neither does a DVD player a DVD recorder would though, but that's probably not what you have. Your other speakers don't tune TV, either.
There's no other way around it. Now i see. I was so missing the obvious need for something to plug the cable line into. I was only looking for the little audio out jack. Thanks so much!!! Now i just have to find a cable box or vcr, etc. Any ideas? The rolling is driving us insane. By the way, the sound is excellent.
The guy that sold it to me had it working without a hitch. I recently unplugged it, because I bought a new power strip with a surge protector in it.
All I did was unplug the main cord, and now it will not work at all. There's power going to it, but no sound will come out. I think it has something to do with pressing a button on a certain channel, but idk It was working fine for the last 4 or 5 years.
I recently got a flat screen tv and I disconnected it from old to hook into the new one. Now it the DVD door does not open and there a system that i would guess is an error code running across the display. What does this mean and what can i do to fix it. Help please thanks. I'm back. As you can see in my earlier posts back in February, im having problems getting sound out of my tv. Will any of these help me to get sound from my cable tv channels to come through the Durabrand home theater system?
The Durabrand has the yellow, white, and red connectors. And also an orange audio out. My HT Home theaater audio system was working perfect when I went to bed, the next morning it would not turn on Any suggestions? Media Smart Home. Magenium Solutions. EHome Design.
